Arlene Nadel’s exhibit, named “Keyhole” opens with a reception 5–7 pm on October 22th to coincide with the ArtEast Regional Art Tour and will run to the November 20th. A life-long artist, Arlene Nadel came to painting after being a professional dancer and ceramicist. She studied art at The Art Student’s League, The National Academy of Design, The School of Visual Arts and Parsons. In explaining Keyhole, Ms. Nadel states, “An open door is an obvious symbol, of opportunity and freedom. In Keyhole, the door is closed, creating a moment of intimate space between subject and artist.  People have passed through that door, into my studio, and stolen fleeting time from the freedom and opportunity of the other side, stopped in flux. It is a respite but also a generous gesture. They will pass through the door again and life will go on.

This work is dedicated to Arlene’s late husband, director, Bruce Nadel.

Ms. Nadel has been in many shows in the region and has work in several private collections. With two studios, one in Union Square and one in Pawling she does portraits – person or animal on commission and is always happy to talk to people about art.
